Kurumba Bay
Architectural brief
Set along the southern coastline, this beachfront bar, restaurant, and pool complex is designed to reflect the relaxed rhythm of tropical coastal living. The architecture adopts a natural and rustic language, with open, airy spaces that dissolve the boundary between indoors and outdoors. Whitewashed walls and warm timber surfaces enhance daylight while soft ambient lighting shapes the evening atmosphere.
Reed, cane, micro-timber, and iluk roofing are layered to provide texture, shade, and intimacy. Timber screens subtly define zones while remaining climatically responsive. Lightweight steel structures, exposed masonry, and a fully reversible beachfront construction reinforce a sustainable design approach that harmonizes with the surrounding landscape.
